It has been a tumultuous 2018-19 campaign for the Chicago Bulls. Coaches getting fired, replacement coaches apparently not being all that well-liked, roster issues, etc.

Still, in spite of all of the turmoil, Bulls general manager Gar Forman thinks the franchise is in a good place, according to Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times.

“Our feeling is we’re exactly where we want to be and exactly where we should be,” said Forman earlier this week. “And I know everybody wants instant gratification. But we’re going to try to build a foundation and develop these young guys.”

That seems like a pretty bold statement to make right after your players tried to stage a mutiny against your new head coach, but at least Forman is trying to stay positive.

Forman also added that new coach Jim Boylen is exactly what the players need. In other words, someone to keep them in check and hold them accountable for their mistakes, which former coach Fred Hoiberg was criticized for not doing.

“Player development is most important. And Jim realizes that. And, he’s come in and placed demands on guys,” Forman said. “He’s been very honest, up-front with guys. Our feeling is that he’s going to push them. And that’s difficult sometimes because it’s a big change. But we think what happened [Sunday], I really do believe it’s a blessing.”

The Bulls are actually coming off an impressive comeback win over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night, rallying from a 21-point deficit to snare a five-point win.

But, even after the nice victory, Chicago is just 7-23.
