Coaches and referees never had a good relationship. For coaches, almost every call that goes against them is a bad call. Referees, on the other hand, remain calm. But when the coach continues to complain, they simply hand out a technical foul to silence him.

Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg seems to have found the perfect balance between dishing it out to the refs but remaining calm so as not to get a technical foul. In a clip posted by self-proclaimed die-hard Bulls fan Gustavo Vega, Hoiberg is seen cursing at the referee while subtly walking away, during their game against the Miami Heat.

Warning: NSFW language ahead.

It was subtle yet Hoiberg seemed satisfied with it. However, his player Robin Lopez wasn't aiming for subtlety. A video posted by Rob Perez shows Lopez cussing the referees nonstop even after getting ejected.

Even if he was already near the locker room entrance, Lopez continued cursing the refs, pointing to them repeatedly for emphasis. Though we can't see the referees' reaction, we can safely say that they were in their usual calm demeanor.

The Bulls are sitting on a six-game losing streak prior to the game against the Heat. They are 24-50 for 12th place in the Eastern Conference. So Hoiberg and Lopez's behavior can easily be understood. It's been a frustrating year for them.

Zach LaVine, the supposed star in exchange for Jimmy Butler, was sidelined due to an injury and has yet to be in top shape. They are probably itching for the season to end for this nightmare to be over. Until then, cursing at the referees to vent out their frustrations seem to be the only option.
