Activision Blizzard continues its unrelenting assault on player storage space everywhere in the world. The Season Two Reloaded update for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is finally here. The new update promises new multiplayer maps, modes, outbreak content, and more but what COD players desperately need the most is additional storage space. Activision Blizzard promised “reduced Warzone file size” but Call of Duty: Warzone players could still look at over 133GB of consumed space once the update hits. Progress cannot be stoped but players still wish Activision would stop attacking storage devices.

CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE WAR ON STORAGE

Players that still intend to keep installed copies of Modern Warfare stand to lose a lot of storage space once the update releases. The PC version of Warzone Update will only take a little over 52.4 GB of space while the combined installs of Warzone and Modern Warfare will take up over 133.6 GB. Undoubtedly, many players now question the benefit of keeping an up-to-date Modern Warfare but it now stands as a hindrance for those with limited storage space.

MID-SEASON UPDATE DOWNLOAD SIZES

  • PC: 52.4 GB (Warzone Only) / 133.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
  • PlayStation 5/PlayStation 4: 52.0 GB
  • Xbox Series X / Series S / One: 57.8GB

The update claims the inflated downloads are necessary because the overall size of Warzone and Modern Warfare are shrinking. Warzone will allegedly lose around 11.8 GB. Modern Warfare, on the other hand, will lose around 30 GB. Smaller games will definitely benefit players in the long run but they still need massive amounts of space in order to download the updates in the first place.

Now, Call of Duty fans face a tough choice. Saying goodbye to Modern Warfare definitely cuts down the update download time by over half. Maybe it's not worth it to keep that Modern Warfare game on your PC despite all the fun you've had with it. Activision Blizzard certainly don't think it's much of an issue to force its players to choose between games they love and want to play.
