The Arizona Cardinals have undergone a major overhaul thus far in the offseason. With all the new changes, there has been some speculation regarding running back Adrian Peterson's future with the team.

It goes without saying that Peterson is not the lethal runner he used to be. However, according to Chris Wesseling of NFL.com, general manager Steve Keim feels the veteran back still has plenty of football left to play:

“There's no doubt that Adrian still has some juice left in the tank, particularly from a run-skill standpoint,” Keim said. “He still runs with a lot of anger and aggressiveness, and has the type of contact balance you look for in that position. But in today's day and age, we all know that you have to be able to catch the ball out of the backfield, you have to be able to do a lot of different things. So versatility is really a key.”

Peterson had entered the 2017 NFL season with a newfound sense of optimism after departing from the Minnesota Vikings. However, it became evident early on that he was not a fit in the New Orleans Saints backfield. As a result, he was soon traded to a Cardinals team that had still been reeling from the loss of running back David Johnson.

The veteran showed flashes of his former MVP self in the first few games for the Cardinals before cooling off the rest of the season. That said, it is likely Johnson will assume his workhorse duties once again. Given their commitment to establishing a strong running game, it seems Arizona could be looking to keep Peterson around in a complementary role.
