St. Louis Cardinals legend and future baseball Hall of Famer Albert Pujols will try to pull off something incredible this Monday night at Dodger Stadium, as he partakes in the 2022 MLB Home Run Derby. Pujols is one of the greatest hitters not only of his generation but of all time, but at 42 years old and with just the shell of his former self, he is widely viewed as a super long shot to win the Derby.

Even ex-MLB stars Adrian Beltre, Nick Swisher, and Jimmy Rollins don't see Albert Pujols topping the field at the 2022 Home Run Derby.

After 22 seasons and 11 All-Star selections, Pujols’ last ride in the Derby is shaping up to be a special night — a minuscule moment in the grand scheme of his career, yet a memorable one in his final season. But, that said, no one seems ready to place a big bet on him winning the thing.

“I love you, Albert,” Swisher said, laughing, “but no.”

“Uh, he has a chance of winning a round,” Rollins offered.

“You never know. Pujols has the power to do it,” Adrián Beltré said. “I’m rooting for him, but it’s going to be tough.”

Albert Pujols has odds of +2400 at FanDuel to shock the world and win the Derby. That's the longest odds among all participants, with the two-time winner the heavy favorite to win again with a price of +185. In the first round, Albert Pujols will be going up against Boston Red Sox outfielder Kyle Schwarber.

Pujols, who has a career total of 685 taters, has participated in four Home Run Derbies before but failed to take home the title in any of those.

So far in his final season in the big leagues, Pujols has six home runs and 20 RBIs, while batting .215.
