The Arizona Cardinals suffered some key losses following their disappointing 2017 season with the retirement of head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback Carson Palmer. Although they have managed to find their new head coach in Steve Wilks, the Cardinals still have a glaring void under center.

However, team owner Michael Bidwill is confident Arizona will acquire their next franchise quarterback this offseason. He made that abundantly clear during an appearance with “Doug and Wolf,” on “98.7 FM Arizona's Sports Station”, per the team's official website:

“The quarterback thing will come. I don't want to sound like we're being cavalier about it but we've got to wait for free agency to start to see who is out there,” Bidwill said. “I know we're going to be aggressive, we're going to have a plan.”

Bidwill's comments just confirm what has largely been speculated about the Cardinals ever since Palmer broke his arm midway through the season. Ever since then, Arizona has been mired in doubt about their legitimacy in the NFC West moving forward due to their lackluster quarterback play. That said, Bidwill is unusually optimistic for a man whose team's future likely hinges on who they get under center this offseason.

There is no doubt that Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins will soon be the biggest name on the market in free agency. However, a signal-caller of his caliber will create some stiff competition from a number of teams for his services. Fortunately, the Cardinals can pursue other solid options at quarterback depending on how the situations with the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles play out. It would come as no surprise if Arizona is linked to nearly every quarterback rumor this offseason.
