Heading into the offseason, the Arizona Cardinals possess a glaring need to address their quarterback situation for the 2018 campaign.

With the free agency period quickly coming up, the Cardinals are preparing for the various possible scenarios that could arise over the next several months. According to Vince Marotta of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM, general manager Steve Keim has made it clear that the team will have several plans in place to resolve their dilemma under center.

“Free agency comes first. So, to me, the way you have to address it is you have to have plan A, B, C and D,” Keim said. “A: addressing it with a free agent quarterback. B: a trade option. C: draft, or, all of the above. We will leave no stone unturned, as I’ve talked about. But at the end of the day, you can’t get caught on A because there are different factors that go into decisions by a free agent quarterback or in a trade process that you can’t put your finger on. We just have to be prepared to move on to number-two or number-three and we can’t get caught flat-footed if the first opportunity doesn’t pan out.”

The first part of their offseason plan will likely see a strong pursuit of Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins at the onset of the free agency. This process will feature the help of two of their key offensive players in All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and Pro Bowl running back David Johnson. Depending on how things transpire with Cousins, the team could also look to acquire AJ McCarron.

Option B may see the team make a run to possibly snag Nick Foles away from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade. However, the price tag on that route could be quite hefty to land the Super Bowl 52 MVP. There may also be other quarterbacks that become available such as Tyrod Taylor with the Buffalo Bills looking to move on from him.

Lastly, the draft is always an option as the team could look to either take a quarterback at their first-round draft position at the 15th overall pick or make a push to move up from their spot. There is certainly much that could unfold over the offseason, the only thing that is clear that the Cardinals have to address heir quarterback situation as their top priority.
