The Arizona Cardinals' signing of wide receiver Michael Crabtree took longer than expected. As a result, he is eager to get going before the 2019 NFL season.

Crabtree has finally been able to join the Cardinals for some practice sessions. According to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss, head coach Kliff Kingsbury says he is excited to get the season started:

Michael Crabtree is “very anxious” to play, though, Kliff Kingsbury said.

Initial reports of Crabtree's signing with Arizona were dispelled after it was revealed that both sides still had yet to agree to terms. The veteran took action by hiring the same agent as Kingsbury and quarterback Kyler Murray and it was not long before negotiations were complete. His main priority now is gaining as much knowledge of the offense as he can with what little time remains now that the preseason is in the books.

The arrival of Crabtree provides the Cardinals receiving corps with another proven option for Murray outside of Larry Fitzgerald. His experience should also help serve as a stabilizing factor for an otherwise young group. The team had released wide receiver Kevin White in order to make room for their new addition.

Both Kingsbury and Crabtree trace their roots to where it all started at Texas Tech. Regardless, the latter knows he has plenty of catching up to do in this scheme given his late arrival. It will be interesting to see what kind of role he takes on in the season opener versus the Detroit Lions.
