Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph says that cornerback Patrick Peterson will play in his team's Week 11 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in spite of a calf injury, via the Cardinals' team website.

“Pat looked fine,” Joseph said after Thursday's practice. “He was full speed today, so he’ll play on Sunday.”

Since entering the NFL in 2011, Peterson has never missed a game due to injury, and it looks like that ironman streak will continue this weekend.

Of course, Peterson did miss the first six contests of this season as a result of a PED suspension handed down by the NFL. He returned in Week 7 and has logged 19 tackles, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble since then.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the Cardinals with the fifth overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

It didn't take long for Peterson to stamp his name among the best cornerbacks in the league, as he made the Pro Bowl and earned a First-Team All-Pro selection during his rookie campaign after totaling 64 tackles, a sack, a couple of picks, 13 passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

Peterson then went on to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons, notching First-Team All-Pro honors three times along the way. His most impressive year came in 2012, when he racked up 55 tackles, seven interceptions, five fumble recoveries and 16 passes defended.

The Cardinals have lost three games in a row and currently sit at 3-6-1.
