As the Boston Celtics continue to try and improve their roster, they recently signed free-agent swingman Jarell Eddie to a 10-day contract. The move came as a result of having an open roster spot, as well as Marcus Smart suffering a hand injury and still recovering from it.

However, after an uneventful stint with the team, it has been reported that they won’t re-sign Eddie to a second 10-day deal.

The 26-year-old Virginia Tech product will apparently not receive another offer from the Celtics, as they will opt to have some flexibility with the trade deadline nearing, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports.

The move is an important one for the team as they could use the money to sign a buyout candidate or free agent to add more depth to their lineup. Eddie did not make any impact for them, which makes their decision easier, only seeing action in two games and failing to score in both outings.

Eddie went undrafted back in 2014 but did not give up on his NBA dream. He took his talents to the G League and bounced from there and the NBA following some call-ups he received the past few years. His last stint at the highest level prior to the one he had with the Celtics was with the Phoenix Suns last season.

It will definitely be interesting to see what moves the Celtics will pull off prior to the deadline and it will be worth keeping an eye on as it could make them even better and strengthen their bid to win it all this year.
