Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens had quite a bit of success at Butler. Would he consider leaving the C's to take the open gig at Indiana University? In short, no.

Stevens said Tuesday he has no intention of returning to the state of Indiana to coach the Hoosiers after they fired Archie Miller on Monday.

Brad Stevens grew up in Zionsville and went to DePauw University. He stuck to his Indiana roots when he took over the Butler job in 2007.

The local kid had unprecedented success in his six seasons with the Bulldogs. Stevens amassed a 166-49 overall record, winning four Horizon League titles and leading Butler to five NCAA Tournament appearances. The Bulldogs even made it to back-to-back NCAA title games in 2010 and 2011.

However, he does not want to revive the Hoosiers' men's basketball program. Instead, Stevens will focus on revitalizing a Celtics team desperately trying to gather momentum.

Brad Stevens has helped lead the Celtics to a pair of Eastern Conference finals appearances. But Boston has struggled to build on last year's run to the ECF.

The Celtics are 20-18 just past the midway point of the season. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were All-Stars. However, Kemba Walker's offense has been prone to fits of inconsistency, and the C's were without Marcus Smart for a long stretch. Boston also lacks a true scorer on the low block.

It remains to be seen whether the Celtics will make a big move in the next week, or if Stevens is on the hot seat. But he is focused on the task ahead.
