Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens was highly complimentary of center Daniel Theis as the Celtics prepare for their final seeding games.

Stevens hailed Theis as the ultimate team player, saying he has assimilated well as a member of the starting lineup (via Jim Fenton of the Brockton Enterprise):

“He has figured out how to get the most out of everyone around him,″ said Stevens, “and I think that’s been his biggest strength all year. I think the way that he plays just fits the other guys perfect.″

Theis has shown an increasing willingness to shoot outside jumpers. The 28-year-old went 2-for-4 from beyond the arc in a blowout win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday, scoring 11 points and adding 11 rebounds. He also made a pair of threes against the Milwaukee Bucks in Boston's first seeding games.

Stevens said Theis does a tremendous job in terms of shot selection. He also stated it is important for Theis to continue to score and make plays for others in Boston's offense (via Fenton):

“I think it’s important that he’s a threat,″ said Stevens. “I think he balances it really well. He doesn’t chuck all night. He picks and chooses the right ones.

“He is more than capable of making it, but he also knows when to flip it to a guard that is behind him and that guard ends up getting the shot because nobody’s on Theis. He just has a nice feel for that.″

Theis has played well in the restart.

The German big man is averaging 10 points and 7.2 rebounds ahead of Boston's game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night. Theis was dealing with a sore foot but is expected to play.
