In wake of the reports that Jaylen Brown rejected contract extension offers from the Boston Celtics, general manager Danny Ainge expressed confidence that the team can re-sign the promising forward ahead of Monday's deadline.

Brown rejected the Celtics' initial offer of a four-year, $80 million, as he believes his potential to be a star in the NBA someday could allow him to get an even bigger contract. If both sides won't be able to agree to a deal before October 21st, the 22-year-old will be a restricted free agent next summer.

Brown has been played a key role for the Celtics over the past couple of years, particularly in 2018, where he helped the team reach the Eastern Conference Finals.

Ainge and the Celtics will need to settle this situation over the next few days as they will also need to make a decision on Jayson Tatum, who could potentially demand a max contract at the end of this season.

Brown said that his contract situation with the Celtics isn't something that he's worried about, which could mean two things. Either he's confident that the team will be able to meet his asking price or if everything fails, he could get what he wants somewhere else.

With Ainge's recent comments, it seems that the Cs are confident that they will be able to keep Brown long-term, which is a good sign. But even if won't be able to re-sign Brown before the extension deadline, they can still re-negotiate with him throughout the 2019-20 season, and that will allow them to fully assess his improvement as a player.

The Celtics will be expecting their young core to deliver this season. Brown has already proven that he can play in pressure-packed situations, and now that Kyrie Irving is no longer with the team, he will have an even bigger role in Boston.
