Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter is the latest professional athlete to congratulate Joe Biden for winning the 2020 Presidential Election over Donald Trump.

Kanter, who is banned from returning home to Tukey due to his public criticism of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, posted a heartfelt message on Twitter after Biden defeated Trump.

“Congrats to my great friend, President-Elect Joe Biden. Thank you for supporting innocent people in Turkey, standing tall for Democracy, Freedom, Human Rights and standing against Dictatorship in Turkey from day one.”

Enes Kanter is planning to become a U.S. citizen in 2021. The Celtics forward currently holds a U.S. green card.

Joe Biden defeating Donald Trump is a huge win for several Americans since the Republican is unarguably the most polarizing President in American history. It's also going to be nice to see the NBA have a good relationship with the White House again, as no championship-winning team has visited Trump since he was elected in 2016.

Kanter has a player option worth $5,005,350 for next season. Since COVID-19 has made the economy and its future uncertain, odds are Kanter will pick up that option and return to the Celtics, who lost to the Miami Heat in the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals in six games at Walt Disney World.

Kanter averaged 8.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for the Celtics in 2019-20. He shot 57.2 percent from the field and 70.7 percent from the free-throw line in 58 appearances.
