Some thought Enes Kanter would make his return to the Boston Celtics' lineup on Thursday against the Charlotte Hornets.

However, it won't happen:

Kanter banged his knee in the second half of the Celtics’ opening night loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and suffered a left knee contusion. He's been out ever since. Kanter played 25 minutes against the Sixers and finished with 12 points, six rebounds and two assists.

The Celtics are 5-1 on the season. They have defeated the Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks twice, Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Kanter split time last season with the Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers. He signed a two-year, $9.7 million deal with the Celtics this summer in free agency.

With the Knicks and Blazers, Kanter averaged 13.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 67 games while shooting 54.9 percent from the field, 29.4 percent from beyond the arc and 78.7 percent from the free-throw line.

In the 2019 playoffs, Kanter put up 11.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for Portland.
