Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker says Team USA’s exhibition loss to Australia was “very humbling.”

Even though the loss didn't count since it was an exhibition game, Walker and the rest of his Team USA teammates took the defeat very seriously.

“No question. It was very humbling. I think it just gave us a whole new perspective,” Walker said, via USAB. “Like I said, I thought against Australia we kind of let up, and we didn’t do the things that we did in the first game against Australia in the second game. Wake up call for us. Great wake up call. Hopefully, we can continue to grow. That’s the main goal for us, to continue to grow as a team, and tonight was great.”

Team USA rebounded by defeating Canada in Sydney. Kemba Walker and Team USA opens up group play against the Czech Republic when the FIBA World Cup starts on Sept. 1.

The 12-man roster is set after Los Angeles Lakers small forward withdrew with an ankle injury. Team USA is made up of Kemba Walker, Derrick White, Marcus Smart, Joe Harris, Donovan Mitchell, Jaylen Brown, Khris Middleton, Jayson Tatum, Harrison Barnes, Brook Lopez, Mason Plumlee and Myles Turner.

Kemba Walker and Donovan Mitchell will start for Team USA in the backcourt.
