Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker is enjoying being around new teammates Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart at Team USA.
Since Walker is the new point guard of the Celtics, he's using this Team USA experience to develop chemistry with Tatum, Brown and Smart — both on and off the court.
So far, Walker likes everything he's seen from the three youngsters.
“They’re just some really good young dudes and I just enjoy being around them,” Walker said, via Sekou Smith of NBA.com. “And the age difference is really crazy to me. J.T. is like 21 and J.B. is 22 and Marcus is 25. And I’m 29 and feeling like, wow, this is cool. It sounds crazy. I remember when I was 21 in this league. I was a rookie and just trying to figure it all out. And these guys are young vets already. Like I said, it’s crazy.”
It's unclear who Celtics head coach Brad Stevens is going to start next season, but we do know Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will be in the starting five. Marcus Smart could either start in the backcourt with Walker, or come off the bench like he did last season.
The Celtics are looking forward to starting the Kemba Walker era. They believe the three-time All-Star has all the tools to lead the franchise to a championship. For that to happen, Walker will need Tatum, Brown and Smart to play like All-Stars next season.
