The things that Marcus Smart brings to the table for the Boston Celtics are invaluable. He is without a doubt one of the most important players on this roster and they probably would not be where they are now — four wins away from an NBA title with the Golden State Warriors standing in their way — had it not been for Smart.

As they always say, behind every successful man is a woman. In the case of Marcus Smart, it's head coach Ime Udoka. The Celtics guard himself revealed the type of relationship he has with his coach — one that has Udoka savagely ripping into Smart during games whenever there is a need to:

“There are times when I turn the ball over, and he'll pull me aside and say, ‘What the f–k are you doing? Ge your team together,'” Smart said (h/t Bleacher Report on Twitter).

Smart isn't exactly a mild-mannered individual himself and perhaps this is the type of aggressive coaching he responds to. This appears to be the case considering how Smart bagged the Defensive Player of the Year. 2021-22 is Smart's most successful season in the Celtics star's career and there's no denying that coach Udoka has his fingerprints all over it.
