Despite the fact that the Boston Celtics lost the services of current Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving to free agency, the heralded Eastern Conference franchise wasted absolutely no time in finding a suitable replacement. The Celtics infamously acquired former Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker to fill the void left behind by Irving while Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck certainly approves of such a move.

“Kemba is a phenomenal player, ” Grousbeck recently told WEEI. “A great person with a glow, an aura of positivity. He’s super excited to be here. He chose us. … He wanted to talk about the banners and the ring, what they look like and how it feels to be a Celtic. He’s super excited.”

In addition to his positive attitude and will to win, Walker is quite the basketball player as well with the former Hornets standout definitely expected to produce right off the bat in Boston. Last season, his last in Charlotte, the veteran signal-caller averaged an impressive 25.6 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game.

“Kemba has excelled in this league for many years while consistently playing at a level among the NBA’s elite,’’ Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge previously said in an official statement released by the team, via Boston.com. “His expansive skillset and model of consistency will fit in seamlessly with what we’re trying to accomplish as an organization.’’

It is also worth noting that Walker with wear No. 8 as a member of the Celtics after sporting No. 15 with the Hornets.
