Ray Allen's new book From the Outside: My Journey through Life and the Game I Love shed many insights into his tenure with the Boston Celtics and the rift between him and mercurial point guard Rajon Rondo.

The book, which was written alongside Michael Arkush and due in stands in two weeks; notes how Rondo felt entitled to a leadership role, one which rubbed his teammates the wrong way.

Allen noted in his book that their dynamic couldn't have been any better during their early stint, describing it as one between a young player and a mentor. But that relationship deteriorated after winning a championship in 2008, with Rondo feeling a sense of entitlement, according to Sean Deveney of The Sporting News.

A rift between Rondo and the Celtics' front office in 2009 only caused rumors that Allen and Rondo would be shipped to the Phoenix Suns for a package built around Amar'e Stoudemire. This issue came up again, when Rondo brought it up in the 2010-11 season, saying “I carried all of you to the championship in 2008.”

“The rest of the team, almost in unison, responded, ‘You what?’” Rondo said everyone on the team had problems with him, and when Allen told him, “None of us had issues with you,” Rondo said to him, “You did, too. You told me I was the reason we were going to be traded.”

This was perhaps the singular incident that started a death-chain of many more with Allen and the rest of the Celtics, ultimately becoming the disintegration of The Big Three over the years, with Allen being the first to go.
