With organized team activities in full swing, teams are doing what they can to make preparations for the 2018 NFL season. Unfortunately for the Los Angeles Chargers, there is one notable player missing from workouts.

Linebacker Melvin Ingram has been a no-show thus far in the offseason. However, according to Ryan Kartje of the Los Angeles News Group, head coach Anthony Lynn is not worried about Ingram's preparation:

“Believe me I know he’s getting ready,” Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said. “Wherever he’s at, I know he’s getting ready because that’s his makeup. Yeah, I’d like for him to be here with his teammates, but these are voluntary, man.”

Lynn is right when he says OTA's are voluntary. For Pro Bowl-caliber players like Ingram, they are hardly instrumental in helping to improve their overall game. Regardless, there is still some confusion as to why he would simply decide not to show up.

Ingram signed a lucrative four-year, $64 million deal with $42 million guaranteed last offseason. He has proven to be worth every penny thus far after going out and registering 56 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and a forced fumble en route to earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl. That said, the reason for his absence at OTA's is still relatively unknown.

Despite their tumultuous 2017 campaign, there is plenty of optimism surrounding the Chargers' chances going into the season. However, it would probably be of great use to have one of their best players back into the mix as they prepare to face off against what is expected to be a competitive AFC West Division.
