There is now a notable injury concern regarding Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James.

The Chargers announced on Saturday that James was a late addition to the injury report due to a hamstring issue. For now, he is being listed as questionable for the Week 14 home matchup against the New York Giants.

James featured in all three of the Chargers' scheduled practices this past week. Thus, this notable update comes as a surprise, especially as he has been provided with an injury designation a day ahead of the team’s clash with the Giants.

After back-to-back seasons that were marred by injuries, James has been a regular for the Chargers so far this year. He has played in all 12 of the team’s games in the campaign. Even as toe and should injuries forced him to miss several practices, he still remains a fixture in the Chargers secondary.

If James ends up being ruled out for Week 14, then head coach Brandon Staley may have to shuffle up his secondary unit — especially as backup strong safety Alohi Gilman will not feature in the game due to a quadriceps injury.

At the least, the Chargers received promising news on Saturday, as veteran cornerback Chris Harris Jr. was activated off of the reserve/COVID-19 list. It will be noteworthy to see whether he may be in line to take part in every snap on defense tomorrow.

The Chargers will aim to maintain their current spot in the AFC playoff picture with a possible win over the Giants.
