After playing for both New York teams, the Jets and Giants, it only makes sense that Geno Smith heads out west to take on the second largest market in the league, Los Angeles. It makes even more sense when realizing who the head coach of Chargers is.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the free agent, Smith, is visiting with the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday.

Current Bolts head man Anthony Lynn is reportedly a huge fan of the West Virginia product and is extremely familiar with the kid from his New York Jets days as an offensive assistant under Rex Ryan.

In his lone start with the Giants last year, Geno sported a solid stat-line of 212 yards and a touchdown on 21 of 36 passing. In four years with the Jets, he started 19 games and played in 20 while compiling 5,926 yards, 28 touchdowns and 36 interceptions to a 57.9 completion percentage.

Smith, 27, hasn't seen his NFL career develop the way he probably envisioned it. After throwing a temper tantrum at the 2013 draft (after slipping out of the first round and being selected 39th overall by the Jets), he was immediately thrust into a starting role when Mark Sanchez found himself injured as a result of the meaningless August Snoopy Bowl.

With more talent around him, he was then knocked out by teammate IK Enemkpali prior to the 2015 season. The unfortunate situation forced Ryan Fitzpatrick into action while Geno had to watch the veteran journeyman take the Jets to a 10-6 record.

With Philip Rivers still needing a solid backup quarterback, the Los Angeles Chargers, under the run-specialist Anthony Lynn, seems like a perfect landing spot for the five-year pro.
