Los Angeles Chargers offensive lineman Russell Okung call miss all of training camp after dealing with what general manager Tom Telesco called “a pretty serious medical issue,” according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic.

Telesco added that Okung is “doing better” and is getting “great care.” Popper also noted that Okung will provide more details on his situation at Thursday's opening practice.

Okung is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he started 15 games at left tackle for the Chargers.

The 31-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Oklahoma State, was originally selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the sixth overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Okung's first couple of years with the Seahawks were riddled with injuries, as he was limited to just 10 games during his rookie campaign due to ankle sprains, and the following year, he missed the final four games of the season due to a torn pectoral muscle.

The Fort Bend, Tx. native finally started 15 games for Seattle during his third season and made the Pro Bowl, but in 2013, he once again dealt with injuries, appearing in just eight contests.

Okung spent the first six seasons of his career with the Seahawks before joining the Denver Broncos for one year in 2016, starting all 16 games for the first and only time of his NFL tenure.

He then went on to sign with the Chargers in 2017, earning his second Pro Bowl appearance after 15 successful starts during his first season.

Los Angeles won 12 games this past year and made it to the Divisional Round of the playoffs, where it lost to the New England Patriots.
