Bad news for the Los Angeles Chargers, Russell Okung is apparently banged up. Chargers coach Anthony Lynn revealed that Okung sat out practice yesterday with an undisclosed injury, per Charean Williams of ProFootballTalk.com.

When asked if the injury was going to sideline Okung longterm, Lynn said: “we don't know yet.” It could turn out to be nothing, but that's certainly not an encouraging report from Lynn. They better hope it's not serious, as the Chargers really can't afford anything happening to Okung.

The offensive line was very mediocre as a whole last season, and Okung was one of the few consistent players. Okung has started 15 games each of the past two seasons since joining Los Angeles, and the Chargers don't have much depth at tackle behind him.

For practice yesterday, projected starting right tackle Sam Tevi kicked over to the left side, and Trent Scott filled in at right tackle. Scott is a second-year UDFA who barely played as a rookie, so hopefully, he won't have to start games.

Okung has done a good job protecting Philip Rivers' blindside and graded out as Pro Football Focus' 11th-best tackle overall last season. Okung originally entered the league as the sixth overall pick of the Seahawks back in 2010. He spent six years in Seattle, and the 2016 season in Denver, before landing in Southern California.

The Chargers are being tightlipped about the situation, but word should leak shortly about what he's dealing with at least. We'll let you know as soon as we have an update.
