Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich announced on Saturday that he is giving up control of the club to the charitable foundation and board of trustees after Russian president Vladimir Putin's horrific attacks on Ukraine. Abramovich is an acquaintance of Putin and because of this, the Blues were facing some backlash therefore he did what needed to be done for the best interest of the team.

Thomas Tuchel previously voiced how the whole situation was distracting to Chelsea but now that Abramovich has made the decision, the German manager revealed it doesn't really make much of a difference for his day-to-day activities.

Via Nizaar Kinsella:

“I feel the same as the final. For me, as a coach in charge of the first team, the decision doesn't change much in the daily business. I am in exchange with Petr Cech and Marina about how to improve the first team.”

Abramovich has been in private control of Chelsea since 2003. That being said, it was definitely a surprising decision he made, but it's the right one. The Russian has no plans to sell the Blues at this moment time and he could return to the fold in the future once things settle down between Russia and Ukraine.

In all honesty, Abramovich is barely ever seen at Stamford Bridge and he's never even given a public interview. The billionaire businessman sticks to himself. But, given how much power Putin has over the people of Russia, especially the ones with money, it appears Roman Abramovich didn't have a choice but to step aside from Chelsea for the time being.
