The relationship between Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy came under the microscope earlier this year after a heated sideline discussion between the two was interpreted as a sign of a possible disconnect. Fast-forward to the offseason, and a recent story emerged saying that there was “friction” between Mahomes, Bieniemy and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. Reid spoke to reporters on Tuesday at the Scouting Combine and called out the ‘fabricated' story, as reported by Chiefs Wire of USA Today.

“This whole thing with Eric Bieniemy that has been written, it’s gotten kind of fabricated,” Reid said. “We were on vacation and over the two weeks I got back and all of the sudden it’s that I didn’t like Eric, and Eric didn’t like me and Patrick Mahomes and everybody else. That’s not the case. We all get along good and I’m glad he’s back with us and rolling. . . Anyways I just wanted to put that to rest. The rest of the time is yours.”

Andy Reid is basically saying that the whole story on Patrick Mahomes and Eric Bieniemy came out of nowhere. Reid made sure to say that the three get along “good” and that he's glad that Bieniemy, who interviewed for head coaching vacancies, returned to the Chiefs.

Reid wanted to put the story to rest, which he certainly did with these comments. The veteran head coach knows that such a story would stick with the Chiefs through the offseason and hang over the team like a cloud anytime Mahomes or Bieniemy stumbles a bit.

However, Reid has been around the block and showed it with the way he handled this story.
