Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a whirlwind of success in a short amount of time. However, it appears none of the fame or accolades have gone to his head.

There are many qualities that make Mahomes one of the brightest, young stars in the NFL. According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, head coach Andy Reid admits it is his humility that impresses him the most:

“You can take all the different venues he won these awards from,” Reid said. “And the one thing that comes out of it is how humble he is. He feels like it’s an honor to play in the National Football League. That’s what gets communicated, either by body language or by words.”

Quarterbacks are not usually synonymous with being humble, even though the best usually tend to be. Regardless, it is safe to say that Mahomes certainly fits that mold and it seems he has not lost track of what has inspired him to play in the NFL.

It is this humble demeanor that helped Mahomes enjoy the nearly best possible debut season as a starter that any quarterback could achieve after earning MVP honors en route to a trip to the AFC Championship. Despite his stellar 2018 campaign, the young gunslinger was clearly distraught with how his team fell short against the New England Patriots.

Mahomes still has a long way to go before he can be considered a finished product. Fortunately, it has become quite clear to Reid that he has all the makings of a franchise quarterback both inside and out.
