Kansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones wants JJ Watt to come join the reigning AFC champions.

Jones said Watt is his favorite player during an interview with Sports Radio 810 WHB. He said he would obviously love to play with Watt in Kansas City, though Jones also understands Watt could follow his heart given this is his first free agency:

“JJ Watt has been my favorite player throughout the league my whole career,” Jones said about the potential Chiefs talent, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “He was the Aaron Donald before Aaron Donald — he was J.J. Watt, you know? So he’s still my favorite player. Would I love to play with him if the opportunity presents itself? Hell yeah. But you never know how these things go. He’s a free agent for the first time in his career. He might want to play with his brother or something, I don’t know.”

Watt would indeed be the ideal fit for a Chiefs team that could use another defensive playmaker up front.

Kansas City's defense ranked 21st in rushing yards allowed, and 17th in yards per carry. The front seven were dominated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl, with Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones combining to average well over five yards per carry.

Watt excels against the run, and he and Jones would form quite the imposing duo whenever Watt might line up against opposing offensive guards.

But the Chiefs have very little cap space to work with this spring, in part because of a mammoth extension handed to Jones last offseason. They might have to turn to more cost-effective options in free agency.
