Former Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis made his return to the NFL late in the 2017 season with the Kansas City Chiefs with the hope he could help contribute to their playoff push.

However, the Chiefs fell short of that in a disappointing loss in the Wild Card round against the Tennessee Titans. The 32-year-old now has one more year left on his deal with the Chiefs at $10 million. There is a realistic chance that the team could choose to part ways given the hefty price to pay for a cornerback that isn't performing at an elite level.

With that in mind, Revis has made it clear that he wants to continue to play next season with Kansas City or another team, according to Adam Teicher of ESPN.

“You never know with these things,” Revis said. “This is my fourth team. Rosters always change. Even if we went the distance and won the Super Bowl, that team changes as well. I understand the situation.

“I'm always optimistic about these things. I'm just being optimistic and if the opportunity presents itself, you take the opportunity.”

If the Chiefs do decide to bring him back for another year, it will give them a deeper and more experienced secondary. It is also entirely possible that a full training camp in the team's defensive scheme could bode well for him to perform at a more effective level. Keep in mind, Revis joined Kansas City on Nov. 23 and played in the final five regular season games including the playoff loss to the Titans.

He was used at a high rate as the third cornerback behind starters Marcus Peters and Steven Nelson while also making a pair of starts. Revis may not be the player he once was but could be a valuable asset in the secondary if the Chiefs decide to keep him on board.

The only question that remains in the offseason is whether the front office is willing to keep him on the roster at his projected salary.
