We knew the Denver Broncos' offensive line was bad, but not this bad. A Kansas City Chiefs defense that came into Thursday night's game with only 11 sacks on the season was able to feast on Denver's O-line, totaling nine sacks on Thursday alone.
The Chiefs tied the 1983 Chicago Bears for the most sacks allowed in Bronco history.
Obviously, the biggest news to come out of Denver was the knee injury to Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs didn't seem to need Mahomes, as the team was able to come out with a 30-6 victory even with under 300 yards of total offense.
Adding to their nine sacks, the Kansas City defense was also able to scoop up a fumble and get into the end zone themselves.
Coming into the game, the Chiefs' defense had been highly criticized, especially their defensive line. The only teams in the league to let up more rushing yards per game than Kansas City had been Cincinnati and Miami. They were able to limit a run-first Broncos team to just 71 yards on the ground.
In a game they needed to have, the Chiefs' defense was able to come through bigger than ever. Anthony Hitchens, Frank Clark, and Alex Okafor were all big winners Thursday, with each totaling two sacks. Fans will hope to get similar performances in the weeks to come with Kansas City's offense in question.
