The Kansas City Chiefs thought they found the answer to their linebackers coach job in the form of Matt House, but that is not the case.

It has been announced that he will be staying at Kentucky as the defensive coordinator.

It was reported that House not only met with the Chiefs, but accepted the job. All this confusion leaves Kansas City still wondering who will fill out their coaching staff for the 2019 season.

Per Ian Rapoport, this move, or lack thereof, is not House's choice. There was originally a plan for the Chiefs and the university to discuss a buyout, but in the end Kentucky decided against losing their defensive coordinator.

Rapoport also says that House wanted to go to Kansas City.

Kentucky's defense is a good one, boasting a player like potential first overall selection Josh Allen. Not to mention that House has helped them to become the sixth-best unit in the nation in terms of scoring defense.

This move would've brought Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and House back together, per John Clay of the Lexington Herald Leader.

The Wildcats defensive coordinator worked under Spagnuolo when he was the head coach for the Rams. House joined Kentucky's coaching staff in 2016, but was not promoted to his current position until a year later.

House was set to replace Mike Smith as outside linebackers coach after Smith left to join the Green Bay Packers. The Chiefs are looking for an inside linebackers coach as well following the loss of Mark Deleone to the Chicago Bears.

It is early in the offseason, but the Chiefs are hitting early speed bumps in filling out their coaching staff.
