Despite a disappointing end to the Kansas City Chiefs 2021 campaign, the relationship between quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid seems to be as strong as ever. In a video posted today by the NFL, Mahomes can be seen at this past weekend's Pro Bowl chatting it up about “Uncle Andy” with Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby.

After telling Crosby that Reid is “super cool”, Mahomes goes on to explain that he's like an uncle that you wouldn't dare disappoint. “He'll get mad as s—,” Mahomes said, “but he's gonna give you your freedom to do what you wanna do”. The 2017 first-round pick has given Reid few reasons to be disappointed, having gone 58-16 during their time together in Kansas City while bringing in four Pro Bowl selections, two All-Pro honors, a league MVP, a Super Bowl victory, and a Super Bowl MVP award.

Since taking over the Chiefs in 2013, Reid has made the playoffs all but one season, with each of the four since Mahomes took the starting role in 2018 resulting in either an AFC Championship or Super Bowl appearance. Not something every nephew can say they do for their uncle!

The two would then go on to discuss fellow AFC signal-caller Mike Vrabel, who had his contract extended by the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday. “I bet Vrabel would be an awesome coach… he's a player so he understands,” Mahomes said. Vrabel, a three-time Super Bowl champion in his own right, appears to be earning the respect of his peers heading into what will be his fifth season as a  head coach.
