The Kansas City Chiefs are fresh off of their AFC Championship Game loss against the New England Patriots in overtime. It was a tough way for an impressive season to end, but now they are already focusing on how to improve next season. Everything started with the announcement that they were parting ways with defensive coordinator Bob Sutton.

According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Chiefs could have interest in former NFL head coach Rex Ryan to be their next defensive coordinator.

Needless to say, the Chiefs having interest in Ryan is going to bring a lot of interest. Ryan has a long history of successful defenses. He also has a long history of being one of the league's most polarizing coaches.

During his time as the head coach of the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills, Ryan led his teams to a 61-66 total record.

Kansas City has to find a guy that can improve both the pass rush and secondary play. Ryan certainly has received a lot of praise for being a defensive guru throughout his career. He would likely be very interested in the Chiefs' position if it was offered to him.

This past season, the Chiefs had a lot of defensive talent on the roster. Chris Jones, Dee Ford, Justin Houston, and Kendall Fuller are all quality players. Add in a healthy Eric Berry and Kansas City could have a good start to a roster that Ryan can work with. Ford is set to hit free agency, but the Chiefs have a good chance to bring him back.

It will be interesting to see what the Chiefs end up doing, but Ryan is certainly an intriguing name to keep an eye on throughout the searching process.
