Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan spoke out about the possibility of converting Arrowhead Stadium into a polling location for voters with elections forthcoming, according to Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there have been plenty of concerns when it comes to voting in the upcoming election. Social distancing policies will make it hard for a lot of people to be cramming into the usually small polling locations.

However, Arrowhead would be a great alternative. Although it might not be the most convenient place for residents to get to, it is a very large area. It is also unclear who exactly would be allowed to vote there, as usually polling locations are set for a certain small area at a time.

Due to its size, Arrowhead Stadium would likely be able to make things go much smoother and faster. More people can vote at once inside the stadium while still remaining a safe distance apart.

Of course, Donovan does not promise anything. There is likely a lot of red tape that you need to go through to ensure a polling location. He expresses that they want to make it happen though, and that's definitely a fantastic start.

The Chiefs are not the first sports team to express their interest in making this sort of thing happen.

According to Bill Barrow of the Associated Press, NBA superstar and Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James and his voting advocacy group also discussed something similar. They were hoping to turn sports venues into polling locations come November.

The Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks have already announced their plans to use their arenas as voting places. And the Milwaukee Bucks have done the same.

Now it appears the NFL is getting involved in the festivities thanks to Donovan and the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
