During this past Monday night's 54-51 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill was hit with a taunting penalty on his 73-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter.

The league has decided to step in to levy a $10,000-plus fine for his actions on that play, according to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.

The play in question saw Hill flash a peace sign at Rams safety LaMarcus Joyner, who was the nearest defender to the wide receiver as he crossed the goal line. It is a signature move the Chiefs star wideout has used on several occasions throughout his NFL career whenever he has blown past defenders for a touchdown. There was no ill-intent or out-of-character decision with this latest taunt.

Hill has reportedly decided to appeal the fine given there didn't appear to be any extra motivation for him to do that action. Instead, it simply looked like a fine to persuade Hill to stop doing it in the future, or perhaps it was a way to make up for not fining him when he decided to take control of a camera after scoring a touchdown in Week 10.  If anything, this was just an early celebration that warranted a penalty at most, which was assessed by the referees in the game.

Tyreek Hill has been putting together a highly productive campaign with 65 catches for 1,106 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. There will surely be more celebrations in the future, and we'll have to see how the NFL treats those.
