The fight between Ciryl Gane and Francis Ngannou is full of storylines and has shown no signs of slowing down heading into UFC 270. The two were former training partners and now they're set to fight for the heavyweight championship.

Francis Ngannou has been very vocal about his contract situation. Ciryl Gane was recently asked about what he thought of the situation between his opponent and the UFC.

“This is not my deal. For my part, I'm really OK with my deal with my management. MMA Factory did a great job with Dana White and the UFC. I'm really happy,” Gane told CBS Sports' Shakiel Mahjouri. “I can understand if Francis wants to defend his money. I can understand. This is human. Everybody wants more. That's normal.”

The relationship between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane is a complicated one as they are not beefing but Gane's coach has issues with the UFC heavyweight champion. Things could still be resolved between Gane and Ngannou.

“For my part, yes, I'm always going to be like that. I'm authentic. I want to give respect to anyone on this Earth. This is my mindset,” Gane said. “After that — no matter if Francis wants to keep this kind of relationship — when I jump into the cage, I'm going to do my job for the fans. This is a sport for me. Like a game. This is really like that. No more feelings beyond I want to win. That's it.”

Ciryl Gane takes on Francis Ngannou at UFC 270 in an attempt to unify the heavyweight championship. The winner is going to find themselves in a very important position going forward.
