It was a rocky season for the Cleveland Browns, as it seemed adversity just wouldn't allow this franchise to prosper. The front office looks ahead to a busy 2022 NFL offseason, as the roster is in need of some serious help. We take a look at the potential Browns free agent targets with the 2022 NFL free agency approaching.

The most notable area of concern is the wide receiver room. After trading away Odell Beckham Jr., the Browns were left with one of the worst receiving cores in the league. Between a putrid group and Baker Mayfield's multiple injuries, Cleveland was doomed from the start. They're bound to draft an exciting rookie, but don't be shocked if the team signs two solid pass catchers in free agency.

Defensively, the Browns are rather solid within the front seven. They also have some nice pieces in the secondary, but that area could use some improvement as well. Cleveland allowed a ton of yards through the air, so addressing the cornerback position is a must for this franchise.

With that said, here are three potential Browns free agent targets this offseason.

Browns Free Agent Targets for 2022 NFL Offseason

3. Isaiah McKenzie

The Browns free agency game plan is simple… Find and sign decent pass catchers. Isaiah McKenzie isn't the most exciting name, but he's proven to be a reliable option for the Buffalo Bills. Although he plays more of a depth role, he could blossom in Cleveland's lowly wide receiver room.

McKenzie would give the Browns a solid weapon out of the slot. Signing him wouldn't fix the issues going on with the offense, but it'd be a nice start. He has plenty of experience and is still young enough to make an impact for any team that signs him.

2. Kyle Fuller

We'll see what Kyle Fuller's market looks like, but he should be one of the top available cornerbacks if he hits free agency. The Denver Broncos might be looking to spend their money elsewhere, which could work out in the Browns' favor. Considering how bad the cornerbacks played this season, signing Fuller would be a massive upgrade for this defense.

Kyle Fuller has the ability to play on the outside and the slot. His versatility would be welcoming for the Browns. Cleveland isn't too far away from having an elite unit, but bringing in Fuller could put this defense over the top in the 2022 season. Look for the front office to sign at least one cornerback during the 2022 NFL free agency.

1. Chris Godwin

Here's where the Browns can make a splash. Chris Godwin is one of the most dangerous wide receivers in the league. Although he fell to injury, many teams will be looking to acquire him if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers choose not to re-sign the veteran receiver. Godwin has the potential to be the pass threat Cleveland had hoped Odell Beckham Jr. would be.

This will be a difficult move to make, as the Buccaneers may keep their star receiver. It all depends on how Tampa Bay approaches the offseason. For the Browns, signing Godwin opens up their offense and drastically improves the receiver room immediately. The idea of signing Chris Godwin, Isaiah McKenzie, and drafting a stud receiver in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft should excite the fan base tremendously.
