LA Clippers head coach Doc Rivers confessed that he wouldn't be around Los Angeles anymore if the trio of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan were still there.

As reported by Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, Doc Rivers said that a change was needed for the franchise to finally rack up some wins.

“I needed the change. I wouldn’t have done this with the same group. I wouldn’t be here probably,” Rivers said. “We just needed change. We needed it and we just had to do it. We had to come to the conclusion we weren’t going to win.”

To recall, the Clippers came real close of moving on to the Western Conference Finals in 2014. But they were outlasted by the Oklahoma City Thunder in six games. The following year, the Clippers choked against the Houston Rockets. They were just one win away from the Conference Finals again.

“Once those two years happened, it was really over for us,” Rivers added.

It was a core known as Lob City. Plays ran through one of the best point guards in history. Paul either had two options: a pick and roll pass to Griffin or toss it up to Jordan up in the air. It didn't matter how high he threw it up. Only Jordan could get it anyway.

But their success and exciting play withered out in the playoffs. As Rivers admitted, the string of unsuccessful postseason campaigns was nothing but a nail in the coffin for his squad. Now, Paul, Griffin and Jordan have moved on to different teams. Rivers is left with a relatively brand new roster. It's up for him to helm this new team to the playoffs once again.
