Kawhi Leonard sustained a laceration to his mouth during the LA Clippers' Christmas day matchup with the Denver Nuggets. According to Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints, Leonard will miss Sunday's contest versus the Dallas Mavericks due to his mouth laceration.

Late in the fourth quarter of Friday's game against the Nuggets, Leonard attempted to grab an offensive rebound for the Clippers. However, while he was going up for the rebound, he was struck by the elbow of Serge Ibaka, who is now a teammate of Leonard again.

Leonard laid on the court with a bloody mouth and there was blood trickling onto the court as well. The veteran forward was taken to the locker room to receive stitches, but he did not return to the game.

While Leonard avoided a serious injury that would cause him to miss an extended period of time, he will miss Sunday's game against the Mavericks. It will be the first game that Los Angeles will play versus Dallas since the two teams met in the first round of the playoffs last season.

With Leonard not available for the Clippers, Los Angeles will have to lean on Paul George a bit more offensively. George has gotten off to a strong start this season, averaging 28 points, 5.5 rebounds, and six assists per game in the first two games for the Clippers.

On the other hand, Luka Doncic will likely have an easier time finding ways to score without Leonard harassing him on the defensive end of the floor. Luke Kennard will be the player that draws the start for Los Angeles in place of Leonard.
