The LA Clippers have unveiled plans and visual renderings for a new basketball arena, set to be completed by the fall of 2024 once their lease at Staples Center, which they've shared with the Los Angeles Lakers, is up. The venue will be named the Inglewood Basketball & Entertainment Complex, a “billion-dollar-plus” state-of-the-art arena that will be privately financed and will create as many as 10,000 jobs during its construction:

Clippers owner Steve Ballmer had been rumored to seek out a place of his own to be able to break away from Staples Center, and this plan will allow him to give his franchise its very own home:

“I want it to be beautiful,” Ballmer told ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. “But I want it to be about basketball. I want it to be comfortable. But I want it to be about basketball.”

“Being in L.A., the free-agency thing will always be a little more important to us,” Ballmer later added. “That means we got to invest in the players' experience.”

Ballmer, known to be not only the owner of the team, but at times its biggest fan, wants the building to showcase the excitement in it — similar to the record-breaking decibels Oracle Arena was able to produce during the Golden State Warriors' early postseason wins at the start of their dynasty:

“I want it to be a noisy building,” said Ballmer, who has minutiously looked after every detail. “I really want that kind of energy; think Oracle [Arena] has been that way, Utah, Portland has got good energy. I think our Clipper fan base is a little more tenacious. They're people decided they're sticking with us, and now I think we will get new kinds of fans with Paul and Kawhi joining us, but I think it is a hardcore fan base. I think that we can get real noise, real energy in the building.”

The Clippers will face some opposition when trying to get this arena built, as James Dolan, who owns the New York Knicks and MSG, will want no competition to The Forum when it comes to concerts and entertainment — an issue Ballmer will have to solve before bringing his vision to fruition.
