The Los Angeles Clippers have officially signed two-time champion and Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard.

Lawrence Frank, the Clippers' President of Basketball Operations is ecstatic about the franchise's biggest acquisition, and in the team's official statement, he called it a historic moment.

“This is a historic moment for our organization and our fans. We are grateful and honored that Kawhi Leonard has decided to come home and join the LA Clippers. Kawhi is a peerless two-way player, a relentless worker, and a natural fit for the serious, professional culture our group has established. He wins everywhere he goes, and he always has, from King High School to San Diego State to the NBA. Having him on our side is a tremendous privilege and a massive responsibility, one we will take very seriously. His expectations, and ours, is to contend for championships.”

After initially agreeing to a four-year deal, Leonard has decided to sign with the Clippers for three years worth $103 million. He has the option to opt out in year three. This allows him to become a free agent in either 2021 or 2022 together with new teammate and fellow All-Star Paul George.

Leonard gives the Clippers a legitimate shot at a championship, something that the franchise has never had throughout its entire existence in the NBA. He just led the Toronto Raptors to its first-ever championship last season, and if he can do the same with the Clips, then he will forever cement his legacy as one of the best players in the history of the league.
