Colby Covington has been looking for the perfect opponent to book his next fight in the UFC. It has to be someone with a big name and a story to rival him. It appears he wants someone from his former gym American Top Team, either UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal or Dustin Poirier.

UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier appears to be someone that Colby Covington really wants to fight next. The Louisiana native will need to move up to the UFC welterweight division before a fight can happen.

“There’s a lot of options out there,” UFC contender Covington said on Submission Radio. “You look at this bully that fought last night. You know, Dustin ‘Soyrier,’ Louisiana swamp trash. He said a lot of things too in the media. And now he’s saying that he might come up to 170. He wants to come fight in a real man’s weight class. So, this is another personal fight. These are different types of fights, man. This isn’t about the rankings. This is about personal grudges and being held accountable for your actions.

“You said ‘it’s on site when I see you’ in the media, it’s this and that,” the UFC contender continued. He’s talking this big game like he’s a street fighter, he’s some badass fighter. Stop cutting all that weight, Dustin. Come up to the real man’s weight class, [UFC] welterweight, and let’s do this, man.”

It's unclear if Dustin Poirier will move up to the UFC welterweight division or even if the fight has a chance of happening. The two men do have beef and a fight between them is not unrealistic.
