The expectations are as high as ever for the Indianapolis Colts going into the 2019 NFL season. It appears the same can be said for running back Marlon Mack.

Mack enjoyed a bit of a breakout year in 2018. ESPN predicts that he will enjoy yet another productive season:

2019 Predictions

246 carries, 1,098 yards, eight touchdowns, 4.5 yards per carry

32 receptions, 223 yards, one touchdown

Mack had shown plenty of promise since his arrival after being taken in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was pegged by head coach Frank Reich as the starter going into last season before he was forced to miss some time due to a lingering hamstring injury. As a result, the Colts continue to use a committee in their backfield. Fortunately, that soon changed once he made his return.

The prospect of Mack topping 1,000 yards rushing is certainly not too far-fetched. He finished the 2018 campaign with 908 yards and nine touchdowns on 195 carries while tacking on 17 receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown in just 12 games. If he can remain healthy, there is no question that he will be able to surpass his current projections.

Indianapolis admittedly relied heavily on the arm of quarterback Andrew Luck. While it was encouraging to see that Luck was more than up to the task, Reich has indicated that Indianapolis will look to take a more balanced approach on offense moving forward. This could mean that Mack is poised to take on a bit of a workhorse role.

The 23-year-old will be looking to put up some Pro Bowl-caliber numbers in 2019.
