The Indianapolis Colts have been ecstatic with the impact that defensive end Justin Houston has provided their team since signing with them in the offseason.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard was a part of the Kansas City Chiefs organization when Houston was on the team. The familiarity that they both have with one another has made Houston's transition to Indianapolis a nearly seamless process.

“I guess because I was with him for four years in Kansas City and I kind of knew the impact he had on our football team there,” Ballard said, via the team’s official website, “and then to bring him in, not only the player, but the person and the leader and everything he brings, the other stuff that people don’t see day-to-day — what he brings to not only the defense but the entire team — [I] couldn’t be more pleased with Justin. And I think Justin, he’s still an elite player, and I think he’s still got a lot left in the tank.”

So far this season, Houston has started in all eight of the Colts' games. He has recorded 24 total tackles, 10 quarterback hits, 6 sacks, 7 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 safety. His production has actually been ramping up over the last few weeks as well.

The impact that Houston has provided the Colts both on and off the field has made him well worth the two-year, $24 million contract that he signed with the team during the offseason. He appears to be building steady momentum at this point.
