The Indianapolis Colts have a huge game coming up against the Arizona Cardinals on Christmas Day, but they won't have star guard Quenton Nelson because he just went on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced. Nelson could miss the Week 17 game against the Las Vegas Raiders as well if he's still unvaccinated.

This is another brutal blow to a Colts offensive line that was already shorthanded. Ryan Kelly remains out after the tragic death of his infant daughter, and guard Mark Glowinski also recently went on the COVID list.

This will make life more difficult for quarterback Carson Wentz and star running back Jonathan Taylor, though at this point we shouldn't count Taylor out of doing anything. The Colts running back is having an MVP-caliber season and has dominated since a slow start, and he'll be called upon a lot again against Arizona.

Indy is 8-6 this season and in second place in the AFC South behind the Tennessee Titans. The Colts certainly weren't happy to see the Titans come back against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football, because a Tennessee loss would have dropped them to 9-6. Instead, the Titans created some separation in the division by getting to 10-5.

That 8-6 record for Indy has them at No. 5 in the AFC, but it's a crowded playoff picture and every game is especially important coming down the stretch. The Cardinals are 10-4 on the season, but they've lost consecutive games, including a truly hideous loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 15.
