The Indianapolis Colts hope that third-round pick Bobby Okereke will show the same type of improvement in the NFL that he did in college. According to Pro Football Focus Okereke improved his ratings every year when he was with the Stanford Cardinal.

In 2015 he only played 71 snaps with the team but had a poor rating of only 46.7. By the time he was a senior he was one of the stronger linebackers in college football coming in with a rating of 78.

Coming into the NFL draft Okereke knew that the Colts had a lot of interest in him so he was excited when he heard his name called.

“I just felt really comfortable with them,” Okereke told the local media on a conference call following his selection via the Colts team website. “They kept telling me, ‘We want you to be a Colt. We love you. We love your play style. We think we would fit well with you.’ I’m excited that they pulled the trigger.”

The good news for Okereke coming into the Colts linebacker room is that it is pretty crowded so it will give him time to learn behind some good NFL players.

Early in his career Okereke's biggest impact will be on the special teams, a role he is excited to play on.

“Yeah, I mean I’ll obviously come in as a guy who can play on all four special teams and then just be a fast, athletic guy that can compete and just play wherever I’m needed,” Okereke said.

The Colts will try to get back to the playoffs next season.
