The Indianapolis Colts are fresh off their fifth straight win by toppling the Miami Dolphins 27-24 after orchestrating a fourth-quarter comeback down by a double-digit deficit on Sunday afternoon.

However, some of that momentum heading forward was lessened after it was reported by Stephen Holder of The Atheltic that tight end Jack Doyle may be out for the rest of the season due to an unspecified injury that was later revealed by Mike Chappell of FOX59/CBS4 Sports to be a kidney injury.

This is a significant blow to the offense as Doyle has proven to be one of the most reliable assets in the passing game for the Colts over the last few years. He had struggled to get on the field this season having missed five games due to a lingering hip injury as he has played in just six contests where he has 26 catches on 33 targets for 245 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Doyle has had limited impact totaling more than 50 receiving yards just twice this season.

He had entered the year coming off a breakout 2017 campaign that earned his first Pro Bowl nod as he recorded 80 catches for 690 receiving yards and four touchdowns. However, he hasn't been able to recapture that level of production this year due to injury and the presence of another viable tight end on the roster in Eric Ebron, who has proven to be a major red zone asset for the Colts with 44 receptions for 508 receiving yards and a league-best 11 receiving touchdowns.

Indianapolis will have to shift things in another direction with Doyle out of the mix as Ebron immediately steps back into the mix as their primary receiving threat at the position. He is coming off another solid outing against the Dolphins with five catches on seven targets for 45 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
