Comedian Conan O'Brien did what is possibly his last Clueless Gamer show with fellow comedian J.B. Smoove. For the Clueless Gamer's last episode, the comedian pair played Biomutant, one of 2021's most anticipated releases. The show promotes video games by having the (non-gamer) Conan react hilariously at gaming tropes, using his inexperience to comedic effect. Biomutant comes out on PlayStation, Xbox, and Windows PC on May 25, 2021.

Conan says Biomutant went way too long, and was pretty much ‘pointless'

As usual, the Clueless Gamer episode starts with Aaron coming in to teach Conan the ropes and tell him the background of the game. While Aaron was explaining, Conan quips, “Every game we play is the post-apocalypse. Every time we start a game, I say, ‘what happens?' He says, ‘Well if you know, the world blew up a thousand years ago. And now, everything's blown to sh*t and you've got a glor-glar gun but there are glaxons and bling-blangs and blow-blows. Biomutant‘s different?” Aaron responds gamely, “It's different because this is the post-post-apocalypse,” to which J.B. Smoove responded with a “wow.”

Most of the Clueless Gamer's last episode had J.B. Smoove playing with the controller, being the more experienced player between the two comedians. He did let Conan play the game for some while to try out THQ Nordic's Biomutant, but Conan just can't play well. Still, J.B. Smoove does his best coaching on Conan. It paid off, eventually, helping Conan level up, before Conan returns the controller to J.B. Smoove so he can finish the demo for the two of them.

When asked by Aaron what they think about the game, Conan said, “I think this game would be perfect with a little less talking. And when I say a little less, I mean a lot less. It is a game that went way too long, and seemed to have no point.”

Of course, Conan's trashing on the game is all part of his comedic effort. His indifference towards gaming tropes and things that gamers hold holy are meant to pull some strings. However, he good-naturedly plays the game anyway, even though if it means showing the world just how bad he is at video games.
