In the last couple of days, things have once again heated up around Seattle Seahawks All-Pro safety Earl Thomas regarding his future with the franchise.

Much of this has centered around his reported interest in possibly being acquired by the Oakland Raiders as he playfully told team owner Mark Davis to trade for him. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, the Dallas Cowboys have yet to reach out to the Seahawks again since the 2018 NFL Draft back in late April.

In the last couple of weeks, Thomas has made it clear that he desires to either work out a new extension or be traded this offseason prior to the 2018 campaign. He is currently heading into the final year of his four-year, $40 million deal that will pay him $10.4 million for the upcoming season.

Despite nagging injuries, Thomas is still playing at an elite level after recording 88 total tackles with two interceptions, six pass deflections, and a forced fumble in 14 games played that helped him earn his sixth Pro Bowl selection and his second Second Team All-Pro nod. He has earned the reputation as being arguably the best safety in the league over his first eight seasons all spent with the Seahawks.

The Cowboys will continue to remain in the picture as long as he stays without a deal with the Seahawks this offseason. He is expected to remain in a holdout away from training camp with his focus on finding a resolution to the situation. However, the team doesn't appear to be budging with making any rash decision with Thomas having to play this season if he wants to keep his free agency next offseason. This is clearly a fluid matter for the Seattle could very well see the Cowboys factor in the equation in some capacity.
